trabbs-boy:

I know, I know, Black Widow and Hawkeye shall never be broken, but just consider Black Widow and The Hulk for a minute.  Black Widow is the essence of self-control.  She routinely lets herself be emotionally abused and even tortured in order to get the job done.  She uses her ability to feel nothing to catch people who are masters at inflicting pain.  Suddenly she meets this man who actually, finally, makes her feel real fear.  None of her emotional strength can stop him.  He can’t be manipulated because that requires him to believe he is in control.

The Hulk, on the other hand, has no self-control.  He’s spent years meditating and researching and doing everything he can to get charge over his emotions, but he can’t.  All he’s learned is that he can bring a less senseless version of the monster out without a trigger, because he’s always angry — always out of control.

How could they not be fascinated by each other?  They’re perfect opposites.  The unstoppable force and the immovable object.  Each wants the ability to be the thing the other hates about themselves.  How can he not crave her ability to turn herself to stone?  How can her skin not tingle when he sheds his human armour and lets loose all the rage in the world.

They have so much to teach each other.  It’s good, right?
So then, I call dibs on Hawkeye.
